Terms of use & copyright
This archive exists so that our family, and anyone researching the same towns and names, can learn where we come from. These few terms explain what you may do with what you find here. Last updated 18 October 2026.
Using the archive
The site is a personal, non-commercial family history. You are welcome to read it, link to it, share pages with relatives and use what you learn in your own family research. Please credit “Our Yichus, the Ben Soffer (Goldberger) Family Archive (ouryichus.com)” when you do.
Please do not copy the archive in bulk, republish it as your own, sell it, or upload the tree or its documents to commercial genealogy services without asking first.
Our own material
The text, research notes, biographies, family tree, maps and the photographs from our family's own collections are © 2026 Ben Soffer, unless stated otherwise. Family photographs belong to the relatives who kept them and are shared here with their blessing. If you would like to reuse one, please ask.
Records from other archives
Many documents and photographs come from public archives and museums, including the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, Yad Vashem, the USC Shoah Foundation, the Arolsen Archives, the US National Archives, the NYC Municipal Archives, the Danish Jewish Museum, FamilySearch, JewishGen and the state archives of Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Croatia and Ukraine. Those items remain the property of the institutions credited on each one. They are reproduced here for non-commercial family history and research, and each links back to its source where possible. For any other use, please get permission from the holding institution. See Sources & credits.
If you hold the rights to an item shown here and would like it credited differently or taken down, email doc@drbensoffer.com and we will act promptly.
Accuracy
This is research in progress. Every fact we can support is tied to a document you can look at, but records can be wrong and so can we. Nothing here is an official or legal record. Please check the original document before relying on a date or name, and see How sure are we? for how confidence is marked. Corrections are always welcome.
A place of memory
The archive documents relatives murdered in the Shoah and records the lives of people who cannot speak for themselves. Please treat their names, images and stories with the respect they deserve.
What you contribute
When you sign the Guest Book or send photos and papers, you confirm that you are free to share them. You allow us to display your note on the guest book wall, and to use the information you send in the archive. Uploaded files are never published without your agreement, and you can ask for anything you sent to be removed at any time. We may decline or remove notes that are spam, abusive or not about the family.
